“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
-Richard Buckminster Fuller
In their recent study on Modern Parenthood by Pew Research Center found 56% of working moms and 50% of working dads said they find it very or somewhat difficult to balance work and life.
We live in a new world of work, where consistently building your skill set and adapt is absolutely essential to your success. Change, uncertainty, and market fluctuations are the new new normal. In this new reality, we have to be ready, willing and able to shift perspective and skills in order to grow and advance.
REworking Parents was established in 2009, after I experienced the seismic shift of becoming a parent. I saw so many parents around me struggling with the challenges of professional development and work-life fit.
With my experience as a researcher on work-life, a change management consultant and coach, I wanted to provide strategies and solutions to help people manage their lives as parents and professionals.
I have created a community of individuals that are thoughtful about both roles. They are smart, creative, insightful and ambitious. They don't see themselves as a traditional working parent, constantly juggling and underperforming in all spheres. Instead of doing it all, they focus on their uniqueness and originality, and try to do their best at what they love most. They are leaders in their fields and engaged parents.
Working parenthood is changing. For those forward thinking parents who want to make dramatic change personally and professionally, I am organizing a hybrid conference and workshop. Application only. March 2014.
